Vignesh Aravind Transports is a WMM supplier in Chennai for road contractors, developers and industrial projects. Our Wet Mix Macadam is plant-mixed to MoRTH Clause 406 grading, with controlled moisture, and delivered in tipper lorries ready to lay. We supply layout roads, factory yards and highway packages across Chennai and nearby districts.
We supply well-graded Wet Mix Macadam for projects where consistent material quality, controlled mixing and timely delivery are important. Our WMM is suitable for use as a sub-base or base course below bituminous surfaces, concrete pavements and other engineered road layers.
WMM rate in Chennai depends on the required quantity, aggregate source, grading, delivery location, access to the site and project schedule. Bulk orders generally receive a project-specific rate because transport and dispatch can be planned more efficiently.

Wet Mix Macadam is a road base layer made of graded crushed aggregate and stone dust, mixed with a set amount of water in a pug mill or WMM plant. It is laid over GSB and compacted to form a dense, strong base for bituminous or concrete surfaces.
WMM is widely used in road construction because plant mixing gives better control over aggregate gradation and moisture content than materials prepared entirely at site. When laid and compacted correctly, it provides a uniform working platform and a durable pavement base for traffic loads.
| Test | Requirement (MoRTH 406) |
|---|---|
| Los Angeles abrasion value | {{Max 40%}} |
| Aggregate impact value | {{Max 30%}} |
| Combined flakiness and elongation index | {{Max 35%}} |
| Plasticity index of fines | {{Max 6}} |
Note: Confirm each limit against the current MoRTH edition, approved project specification and engineer’s requirements before publishing or submitting material for approval.
Wet Mix Macadam is produced in a controlled plant process so the aggregate blend and moisture level can be maintained consistently. Proper production, transport, spreading and compaction are necessary to obtain the required density and finished road level.
WMM should be placed promptly after mixing so that its moisture condition remains suitable for compaction. The final compacted thickness, roller pattern and moisture requirement should be based on the approved pavement design and site quality-control plan.
| Feature | WMM | WBM |
|---|---|---|
| Full form | Wet Mix Macadam | Water Bound Macadam |
| Mixing | Plant-mixed with water | Stone laid, then screenings and water added at site |
| Speed of laying | Faster | Slower |
| Quality control | Higher, because grading and moisture are controlled in the plant | Depends more on site workmanship |
| Use today | Standard for most modern road projects | Commonly used for low-traffic and rural roads |
WMM is generally preferred for modern road projects because the material is plant-mixed before it reaches the site. This makes it easier to maintain a consistent aggregate blend and water content, while also helping contractors complete spreading and compaction more quickly.
GSB is the sub-base laid over the soil. WMM is the base course laid over GSB. GSB mainly helps with drainage, separation and load distribution over the subgrade, while WMM provides a stronger and more uniform layer immediately below the final pavement surface.
See our best GSB material in Chennai page for GSB grading, supply information and rates.
WMM is selected when a project needs a strong, compacted granular layer capable of supporting the pavement layers above. The final pavement composition should always be decided according to traffic loading, soil condition, drainage needs and the engineer’s approved design.
We can supply up to {{X}} cubic metres per day with scheduled dispatch. Delivery is available across Chennai, OMR, ECR, GST Road, Oragadam, Sriperumbudur, Padappai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur.
For large road packages and industrial projects, dispatch can be planned according to the daily laying target, paver or grader capacity, site-entry timings and available unloading space. We provide GST invoices and delivery challans, and test reports can be made available on request for specification-driven work.
Along with WMM supply, Vignesh Aravind Transports supplies related aggregates and construction materials for road, layout and industrial-development works.
A. Wet Mix Macadam, or WMM, is a road base made of graded crushed aggregate and stone dust mixed with water in a plant, laid over GSB and compacted to form a dense pavement layer.
A. WMM in Chennai costs ₹{{RATE}} per cubic metre for smaller orders and less for 200+ cum, depending on source, quantity and delivery distance. Call 96776 19999 for a project quote.
A. Yes. Our WMM is graded and mixed to MoRTH Clause 406 requirements as required for the project. The gradation table is shown on this page, and test reports are available on request.
A. WMM is mixed with water in a plant before laying, which gives better moisture control and faster work. WBM is built at site by laying stone and then adding screenings and water.
A. Each WMM layer is usually laid at {{75 to 200 mm}} compacted thickness, depending on the pavement design, site condition and roller used. The final thickness must be confirmed by the project engineer.
A. Yes. In a typical flexible pavement, GSB is laid above the prepared soil subgrade and WMM is laid above GSB. The bituminous surface or another approved pavement layer is then placed above WMM.
A. Yes. WMM is commonly used below concrete, pavers or bituminous surfaces in factory yards, warehouse premises, loading areas, parking zones and internal roads. Thickness should be selected based on expected vehicle loading and pavement design.
